2026 Internship

Twelve weeks inside a real marketing program. Learn the strategy, build the assets, and leave with a portfolio that does the talking for you.

BGS Internship

12

Weeks of real work

The Program

Not a coffee-runner internship.

This is a marketing apprenticeship inside a real brand. You'll learn how strategy gets built, how content gets made, and how a community gets grown, by actually doing it, with a mentor in the room.

What you'll learn

Marketing, end to end.

Brand strategy, audience research, content systems, email, partnerships, and campaign execution, taught the way you actually use it.

What you'll leave with

A portfolio that does the talking.

Case studies, content samples, and a real campaign you designed, work you can point to in any interview that comes next.

The Arc

Twelve weeks, four phases.

Each phase teaches a different piece of the marketing stack, from research to running a campaign.

01
Phase 1

Research & Strategy

Learn how marketers actually study a brand, an audience, and a landscape before they make a single piece of content.

02
Phase 2

Content & Email

Build a content calendar, launch a recurring social series, and write the kind of emails people actually open.

03
Phase 3

Funnels & Partnerships

Map a customer journey, write a pitch deck, and learn how brand partnerships actually get sourced and closed.

04
Phase 4

Capstone Campaign

Design and run one real marketing campaign: brief, execution, dashboard, and the case study that becomes the first line on your resume.

For Your Portfolio

What you walk away with.

Real, named, shipped work, the kind you can put in front of a hiring manager and let it do the talking.

What You'll Learn

Marketing skills you can actually use.

Not theory. The day-one skills entry-level marketing roles ask about, built into the work you ship every week.

Strategy

Brand & audience

How to study a brand voice and a real audience before you write a word.

Content

Social & copy

Pillars, hooks, CTAs. Content frameworks that hold up across platforms.

Email

Lifecycle & copy

Welcome sequences, reactivation campaigns, and the basics of marketing automation.

Partnerships

Outreach & pitch

Pitch decks, cold outreach copy, and a follow-up cadence that gets replies.

Campaigns

Brief to wrap

How to write a brief, run a campaign, and turn the results into a case study.

Your Mentor

Come alongside and work with me.

Hey y'all. I'm Mecca: photographer, founder of Blk Girls Shoot, and your guide for the next twelve weeks.

My whole job here is to pull back the curtain. I'm taking y'all behind the scenes of the marketing, the brand, the operations, the parts nobody posts about, and walking you through how a brand actually gets built. The strategy, the mess, the magic, all of it.

If you want a quiet, polished internship, this isn't it. If you want the real thing with a little razzle-dazzle on top. Come on in.

FAQ

Before you apply.

Is this paid? +

No, this internship is unpaid. It's structured to count for course credit or volunteer hours, and we provide documentation for both.

Who is this for? +

Senior-year college students or recent post-grads who are serious about marketing, ops, or partnerships and want a real case study on their resume.

How many hours per week? +

8–10 hours weekly across 12 weeks. One of those hours is a live mentor call (45–60 min); the rest is project work on your own schedule, plus a quick mid-week async check-in.

Is this remote? +

Yes, fully remote. Weekly calls are over Zoom. The only optional in-person component is attending a BGS shoot if you're local.

Do I need a marketing background? +

No formal background required. We care more about ownership, taste, and follow-through than what's already on your resume.

What will I actually own? +

A content calendar, a recurring "member of the week" spotlight series, an email reactivation campaign, a partnership pitch deck, and a capstone growth campaign you design and run. Every one of those is named and credited to you.

How are interns selected? +

Rolling applications. We review what you submit, then schedule a 20-minute call with shortlisted applicants before offering a spot.

When does the cohort start? +

June 1, 2026. Twelve weeks of work, wrapping mid-to-late August. We try to flex around your school calendar where we can.

I have a different question. +

Email us at info@blkgirlsshoot.net. We read every one.
